Maths With Cuboids

 This week my maths create was to create a net, make it up and measure the volume of the cuboid or cube. This week was quite fun and I would love to share my learning, hope you enjoy it. 

The way to measure the volume of a cuboid is by just grabbing a ruler and measuring the width, height and depth. after you have measured the width, height and depth you times the width by the height and you times the answer that by the depth. you can times it other way rounds like depth, height, width.

Here is the cuboids that I have made this week along with their volume, width, depth and height.

Maths Board

 Hello and welcome to my blog post. What I had to do is pick what maths question we wanted to use from a doc that the teachers made and then make a word problem out of it, solve it numerically, give a visual solution and solve it in another way and I chose 9 x 8. This is what I made, I hope you enjoy reading it! It is called a maths board.




Question: If Jake had 72 lollipops and he wanted to split all his lollipops between 9 of his friends how many lollipops would Jake´s friends get each?

(Work this word problem out in a book or on a piece of paper or just in your head and reply the answer.)

Marvelous Maths

 Hello and welcome this week for maths my goal was to use a broad range of strategies to solve multiplication and division problems with whole numbers.  Use linear scales and whole numbers of metric units for length


My focus this week was to show that I understand how to do my learning goal. To show that I understand my learning goal for maths I made examples on slides and how I got the answer for each and everyone of them. In total of questions I made is 24 questions I did try my best to answer them all correctly and make how I did it also correct. I did many examples to kinda make it sound like I'm showing people how to do it. To do it I add the whole numbers together say if I had 4.5 + 3.2 = __ I would add 4.0 + 3.0 = 7.0 then I would add the other numbers so 0.5 + 0.2 = 0.7 then I would add 7.0 + 0.7 = 7.7.

Multiplication and division


this week I had to do a poster or slideshow or screencastify about showing that I understand multiplication and division facts 2x 5x 10x and I decided to do a poster also it has a skip counting area because I was asked to include. I hope you enjoy my learning







  Multiplication and division


Goal: know multiplication and division facts of 2x 5x 10x.


                  Multiplication


                                             Division 


10      2 = 5 


              Skip counting in 2s

 

2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, 14, 16, 18, 20, 22, 24, 26, 28, 30, 32, 34, 36, 38, 40, 42,                 44, 46, 48, 50

             

             Skip counting in 5s


5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35, 40, 45, 50

               

              Skip counting in 10s


                 10, 20, 30, 40, 50


    2 x 5 = 10


In multiplication you can actually use questions that you know for example for this one

 you can use your knowledge in halfs because 

I bet you probably know half of 10 


As you can see its 10     2 the way to figure this out is so you know how half of 10 is 5 or 5 + 5 is ten well the answer would be 5 in this question also it can also be the kind of opposite of this for example 10   5 = 2

Unit fractions

this week for maths I learnt about unit fractions
a unit fraction is a fraction where the top number is always one 
this blog post is basically about me exsplaining what I learnt and what a unit fraction is

there was a thing that kinda confused me a bit but I figured it out anyway it was also based on greatest to smallest here is basically what I learnt 
was that the bigger the dinominater the smaller the piece so basically the 1\4 is greater than the 1\8 so that is what I learnt
